NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office arrested a known North Vernon sex offender after he trespassed onto school property and provided a false residence to the Sex Offender registry.
School Resource Officer (SRO) Alex Campbell was made aware that Brandon Strickland, 32, of North Vernon, who is listed as a Sexually Violent Predator, had entered onto a school property. School was not in session at the time of the incident. No children were present.
The man had already left the premises, but after investigating, SRO Campbell completed and submitted the case to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office for review. A warrant was subsequently issued.
While searching for Strickland, deputies learned that he had recently changed his address on his Sexual Registry to an address he had not lived at for at least nine months.
On Tuesday, August 26, Chief Deputy Cody Low located Strickland behind a local business and took him into custody without further incident. He was then transported to the Jennings County Jail and is being held on the following charges:
- Warrant for Unlawful Entry of School Property by a Serious Sex Offender (Level 6 Felony)
- Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Level 6 Felony)
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
