NORTH VERNON, Ind. – River Valley Legal Aid is holding a free Legal Aid Walk-In Clinic on Tuesday, September 16, at the Jennings County Public Library, on State Highway 3, in North Vernon, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Attendees can receive legal advice on adoptions, family law (including child support modification, custody, divorce, parenting time, guardianships, landlord-tenant issues (such as evictions and habitability concerns), powers of attorney, protective orders, simple wills, and small estates. Questions about criminal law will not be entertained.
The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Indiana program utilize local volunteer attorneys to offer free legal consultations to low-income individuals. The goal is to give equal access to justice to those within the community who might not otherwise be able to afford counsel.
Individuals who come to the free Legal Aid Clinic on September 16 receive a 10-minute consultation. Lawyers will answer general questions, offer legal information, or dispense other limited pro se assistance or advice on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.
