FRANKLIN/COLUMBUS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College is launching a series of Saturday events in Columbus and Franklin designed for high school students interested in technology, electronics, engineering, or virtual reality.
The Green2Gold STEM Saturdays Innovation Series is for students aged 14 to 18. The free hands-on workshops explore cutting-edge technologies, from drones and electronics to 3D printing and virtual reality, while building real-world skills in a fun, supportive environment.
The program kicks off on September 20 with a session on drone aviation in Columbus. Future sessions will be in Franklin and Columbus, each tailored to spark innovation and discovery.
They include:
- Soldering and Electronics — Students will learn the fundamentals of circuitry and safe soldering techniques-no prior experience required
- Drones — Participants will take flight and explore aerial navigation and safety
- CAD Design, 3D Printing, and VR — Hosted at The Propeller in Columbus, these workshops introduce students to digital design, additive manufacturing, and virtual reality tools

- Ivy Tech Franklin: Dec. 6 (Soldering and Electronics), April 25 (Drones)
- Ivy Tech Columbus: Sept. 20 (Drones), Nov. 22 (CAD Design, 3D Printing and VR), Feb. 28 (Soldering and Electronics), June 27 (CAD Design, 3D Printing and VR)

Green2Gold is a partnership between Ivy Tech and Purdue University, offering students a local, affordable pathway to a Bachelor of Science in engineering. Participants earn an associate degree at Ivy Tech, then transfer to Purdue. Learn more at ivytech.edu/green2gold.
