GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Police Department (GPD) responded to the 800 block of Dover Drive in the Westminster Apartments on a report of shots fired on Tuesday at around 10:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found Bidan Mburu, 22, of Greenwood, unconscious with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The suspect, Isiah Q. Peak Jr, 21, of Indianapolis, had gotten into a fight with another man. During that altercation, it was reported that Peak Jr. brandished a firearm and allegedly shot, missing the intended individual and striking the uninvolved male. The suspect then fled.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, GPD detectives, with the assistance of the Indiana State Police and the US Marshals Service, gathered intelligence indicating that the suspect was located in a room at the Inn Town Suites, near Interstate 70 and Post Road in Indianapolis.
Greenwood SWAT responded to the Inn Town Suites and took the suspect into custody without further incident.
The suspect is being held without bail in the Johnson County Jail pending review and charges by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation into this case is still active and ongoing.
