EDINBURGH, Ind. – Edinburgh Chief of Police Doyne Little released a statement Monday regarding an occurrence last Thursday at Edinburgh Community High School.
It read, “Officers with Edinburgh Police responded to Edinburgh High School on a harassment report among Edinburgh High School Football players. The incident started during football practice when a couple of players got into an argument. Edinburgh Police are investigating the harassment complaint and will forward any criminal charges to the Johnson County Prosecutors if a crime has been committed. At this time, no additional information is available as this is an ongoing investigation.”
Sheriff Little said the cancellation of the Homecoming football game last Friday was made by the Edinburgh Community School Corporation (ECSC).
ECSC Interim Superintendent James Halik stated, “The school received a formal harassment complaint. We take those seriously… zero tolerance.”
