SEYMOUR, Ind. –The Seymour Fire Department (SFD) is seeking the public’s assistance in an arson investigation.
The Seymour Fire Department is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred on Thursday, September 18, at 712 West Oak St., at around 4:10 a.m.
After Seymour firefighters extinguished the blaze, it was determined that the home was vacant. The Seymour Fire Department investigation unit secured the scene and is currently performing an investigation in coordination with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
After collecting evidence, it has been determined that the fire was incendiary, and the incident was officially classified as arson.
The Seymour Fire Department urges anyone with information about this fire or suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
Up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Tips can be reported anonymously by calling the Indiana Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628.
