SEYMOUR, Ind. – Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge invites you to take a step back in time to Indiana’s pioneer days as your family enjoys experiencing the history and natural beauty of Southern Indiana at the annual Log Cabin Day, Saturday, October 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour.
The day’s family-friendly activities are free and take place at the historic Myers Family Cabin and Barn, honoring the folks who made this property their home. You will learn about pioneer life in the 1880s.
Activities include live old-time music performed by the Lazy Susan String Band, historic costumed storytelling, Myers Cabin and Barn tour, pioneer demonstrations, blacksmithing, Chore-Corral where kids try chores from yesteryear, visits to the Refuge closed areas, and a free ham and bean lunch cooked over an open fire with homemade cornbread.
Log Cabin Day kicks off this year’s National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 12-18, when visitors can also explore the Refuge’s hiking trails, auto-tour, birding, fishing, lakes and ponds, and fall colors.
