COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Parks and Recreation Department welcomes more than 2,800 athletes, coaches, and spectators to the Circle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark for the “War of the Roses Midwest Nationals Wrestling Tournament” this Friday through Sunday, October 3 to 5.
With over 60 teams expected, this marks the first major event of the fall/winter season and a chance to showcase Columbus’s hospitality, coordination, and community pride. Saturday, October 4, is anticipated to be the tournament’s highest-attendance day.
To support the scale of the event and ensure a seamless experience for guests, Columbus Parks and Recreation has partnered with city agencies and local businesses to enhance the following transportation, signage, and visitor services:
- Donner Center is the overflow parking location; the Columbus Area Visitors Center will be on-site to assist guests
- A shuttle service will run daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. between Donner Center and NexusPark
- Signage will be placed throughout NexusPark to guide guests to parking areas and the shuttle
- Nearby restaurants and retailers are being informed and prepared for increased foot traffic
- Tourism tools, including a list of nearby dining options, will be shared with visitors
“This tournament is a chance to show how Columbus comes together—not just to host, but to truly welcome,” said Brady Buckley, Associate Director of Sports for Columbus Parks and Recreation.
