COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Parks and Recreation invites the public to “Make Your Mark with Parks,” a new traveling community mural designed to celebrate the power of art, community, and the spaces that bring us together. The mural will debut at The Commons on Tuesday, October 14, at noon during the popular Chaotic Tuesday event.
Created through a Parks partnership with Columbus Park Foundation and local artist Abigail Flout of AbFlo Creative, the mural is designed to be interactive, inviting residents to help color it in as it travels to various Parks and Rec locations over the coming months. All are welcome to participate, and no artistic experience is required.
“I am grateful the Parks and Rec Department thought of me for this project. Having grown up in Columbus and enjoying these spaces, it was special to create this mural of them, said artist Abigail Flout. “I hope this mural reminds the community of all the amazing places and spaces of Parks and Rec and inspires everyone to go enjoy them all year round.”
“We’re excited to kick off this collaborative art experience with our downtown neighbors and the broader Columbus community,” said Beth Hughes, Marketing Manager for Columbus Parks and Recreation. “However you show up in our community, your mark belongs here.” The mural will continue its “tour” into 2026, making stops at parks and community centers across the city.
Other stops on the fall tour of the “Make your Mark with Parks” traveling community mural include:
- October 24 – “Skate and Scare” at Hamilton Center
- October 25 – “Fall Fest” at Donner Center
- November 8 – “100 Years” at Donner Shelter House
- November 20 – “Fieldhouse Rec Day” at NexusPark
