INDIANAPOLIS– Troopers from the Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post responded to a single vehicle accident on I-65 in northern Bartholomew County that resulted in the death of the 35-year-old driver on Sunday, October 12.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to northbound I-65 near the 76-mile marker, near Taylorsville, at around 10:30 p.m., to respond to a single-vehicle crash. ISP troopers located an SUV approximately 100 feet off the east side of the roadway.
The driver, Amanda Seguin, of Indianapolis, sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office despite life-saving measures performed by first responders.
The initial investigation indicated that Seguin was traveling north on I-65 when, for an unknown reason, she lost control of the vehicle. The SUV left the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete barrier. It then continued down an embankment, overturned, and ejected her. It is not believed that she was properly restrained.
The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing, but it initially indicates that drugs and/or alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash.
