FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin College has announced a new Bachelor of Arts in Cybersecurity degree program beginning in the spring semester of 2026. It is designed to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in one of today’s fastest-growing career fields.
Offered through the Department of Mathematics and Computing, the program provides a direct pathway into the critical and high-demand world of information systems security.
The need for trained cybersecurity professionals continues to rise sharply as cyber threats become more frequent and sophisticated, and as organizations across all industries grow increasingly reliant on digital systems. A global shortage of cybersecurity talent is already impacting the ability of businesses and institutions to protect vital information and infrastructure, and projections indicate the gap will only widen in the years ahead.
There are over 600,000 unfilled cybersecurity positions in the United States today. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 33% by 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations.”
Developed in partnership with Rize Education, the new program reflects Franklin College’s commitment to preparing students for success in the modern workforce. By aligning its curriculum with current industry needs, the College ensures its graduates are professionally competitive and career-ready.
The cybersecurity major is closely integrated with the College’s digital fluency initiative, giving students hands-on practice with real tools and practices used by professionals in the field.
