COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Columbus man found guilty of Child Molestation was sentenced to 43 years in prison on Thursday, October 23.
Jason Danner of Columbus was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Kelly Benjamin to a total of 43 years for Child Molesting, a level 1 felony.
The investigation began in the fall of 2022, when instances of abuse were reported to the Columbus Police Department. It was completed in 2023, and charges were filed against Danner in early 2024.
A jury trial was held on September 23-24 of this year, wherein the victim, family members of the victim, and members of the Columbus Police Department testified. After approximately three hours deliberating, the jury returned a verdict, finding Danner guilty.
Prosecutor Lindsey Holden-Kay stated, “This 43-year sentence sends a clear message that those who prey on children will be held fully accountable. The defendant’s actions were unspeakable, and this sentence ensures he will no longer have the opportunity to harm another child.”
