NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) apprehended a local man who allegedly assaulted officers while acting erratically on Sunday, November 9.
NVPD responded to the 100 block of Jennings Street regarding the report. During the encounter, the male removed his shirt and attempted to challenge officers to a fight. The subject allegedly ignored multiple lawful commands and struck one of the officers with a flower pot. Police quickly gained control of the combative male and placed him in handcuffs without further injury.
Jason Horton of North Vernon was preliminarily charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Intoxication. Horton remained combative during the arrest process and was later secured in a restraint chair for his safety.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
