DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. – Corporal Blake Reynolds of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) was killed early Wednesday morning, November 12, while assisting a stranded motorist on Interstate 69 near the 247-mile marker.
The four-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office was helping a broken-down semi when a northbound semi-truck struck his patrol car. At the time of the collision, he was outside his vehicle and suffered the impact. Multiple agencies responded, and life-saving measures were attempted at the scene. The victim, however, succumbed to his injuries.
Officials at DCSO said, “Corporal Reynolds quickly distinguished himself through his hard work, professionalism, and leadership, earning a promotion to the rank of Corporal. He also served his country in the Army National Guard before beginning his law enforcement career.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane stated on social media, “The Sheriff’s Office is saddened to hear of Cpl. Reynolds’ passing this morning. We will hold his family, friends, and coworkers in our thoughts and prayers.”
