NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) made three arrests on Saturday evening, November 15, after pulling over a vehicle for committing several traffic violations on W. County Road 300N.
While speaking to the driver, Matthew Bertram, 45, of North Vernon, Deputy Maynard became suspicious of criminal activity. He requested Deputy Max Marcoux and his K9 partner Creed to come to the scene.
K9 Creed conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and indicated the odor of illegal drugs in the car. The driver supposedly admitted to a large quantity of methamphetamine being in the vehicle. Deputies searched it and allegedly found 19.9 grams of meth inside. The suspect was arrested.
Through investigation, JCSO was able to determine that Bertram had just picked up the narcotics and developed enough probable cause to be granted a search warrant for a residence in North Vernon.
At the house, deputies spoke with Debra Gray, 68, of North Vernon. They executed the search warrant and reportedly located numerous evidentiary signs of dealing in illegal drugs, a handgun, and 17.4 grams of meth. She was taken into custody.
Also arrested at the residence was Amberly Adkins, 36 years old, for possession of paraphernalia.
