JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a serious crash that closed southbound Interstate 69 near Smith Valley Road.
At approximately 5:15 a.m., a driver crashed into a disabled vehicle near mile marker 154 on I-69 while police were already on the scene. Both cars suffered catastrophic damage from the crash. The roadway was closed for several hours as the emergency crews cleared the debris from the crash.
The driver of the disabled vehicle was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown, but we are working to gather more information.
