NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office arrested three men following a traffic stop and pursuit on narcotics charges on Saturday, November 29.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., Deputy Blake Maynard was conducting a routine patrol in the area of U.S. Highway 50 West, when he observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations. Deputy Maynard attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to comply, resulting in a brief pursuit. The pursuit concluded when the vehicle pulled into a local gas station, where Deputies conducted a high-risk stop and safely detained all three occupants.
K-9 Sgt. Michael Watts deployed his K-9 partner, Brock, who gave a positive alert indicating the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted, during which Deputies located a bag containing approximately 68.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, along with additional evidence consistent with narcotics dealing.
The investigation remains ongoing, and charges will be forwarded to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
