SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of south-central, southeast, southwest, and central Indiana until Friday, December 12, at 10 a.m. This includes Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, and Jennings Counties.
Moderate snowfall is expected to develop Thursday evening with total accumulations of 3 to 5 inches by early Friday morning. Higher amounts are possible in some areas.
Slippery roads and hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
Expect arctic air this weekend, with highs in the teens/20s and single-digit lows. Wind chills could be sub-zero. Additional snow is possible on Saturday.
As temperatures fall, NWS gives this advice:
- Be weather aware, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts
- Dress in layers
- Limit your time outside
- Winterize your vehicle and keep an emergency kit inside
- Bring pets indoors if possible
- Ensure animals have access to water and shelter
- Allow extra time to travel
- Check road conditions
