BUTLERVILLE, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single-vehicle motorcycle accident in Columbia Township on Saturday afternoon.
Deputies responded to County Road 775E, at around 3:50 p.m., where they located an unresponsive male who had apparently been ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle being driven by Joseph Simmons, 57, of Butlerville, was northbound when, for an unknown reason, it left the east side of the roadway and rolled several times.
As a result of the collision, Simmons sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jennings County Corners Office.
This is an ongoing investigation and toxicology tests are pending at this time.
