COLUMBUS, Ind. — Detectives with the Columbus Police Department (CPD) are investigating a Wednesday night shooting that sent one critically injured person to an Indianapolis hospital.
CPD responded to a residence in the 1900 block of Pinebrooke Court regarding a robbery and a report of “shots fired” just before 10:30 p.m. Law enforcement arrived and in the yard outside of the apartments found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound. Officers provided CPR until the paramedics arrived and he was later flown by helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital.
Police on the scene say they found the gun that is believed to be the one used in the shooting. One man, who was thought to have fired the weapon was detained, but he was later released after being interviewed. Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim as the investigation is ongoing.
