MADISON, Ind. – Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post detectives responded to the Jefferson County Jail in Madison last Friday to investigate the death of an inmate at the request of the Jefferson County Sheriff.
The initial investigation indicates that the Hanover Police Department booked Misty Williams, 44, of Hanover, into the Jefferson County Jail the night before on preliminary charges of Neglect of a Dependent, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.
At 6 a.m. on Friday, Williams was found unresponsive. Jail staff attempted to provide life-saving medical care to Williams and EMS soon arrived to provide further treatment, however, she was ultimately pronounced deceased.
A forensic autopsy is scheduled to be performed in Hamilton County, Ohio, to determine the cause of death. At this time, ISP says no foul play is suspected.
