SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — More details about the tragic Shelby County accident that killed a Shelbyville man Monday night around 9:50 are coming to light.
Reports indicate Joshua Nathan Turner, 20, of Shelbyville, was in a truck with three others when he climbed out the window to “car surf” on State Road 9 near County Road 950S. When the truck then slowed to about 20 miles-per-hour, Turner fell off into the roadway. The driver, Adam Nordhoff, 29, of Hope, told police he pulled over immediately. However, before he and another passenger could get back to where Turner was to help him, Turner was struck at high speed by another vehicle and killed instantly.
The incident happened so fast the two passengers were unable to get a good description of the northbound vehicle that struck Turner. Anyone with information is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department at 317-398-6661.
