SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department responded Tuesday to a serious injury crash on State Road 244, just west of County Road 600E.
The accident occurred southeast of Shelbyville at around 8:15 a.m. It involved a dump truck traveling east on S.R. 244 and a westbound passenger car.
Initial observations indicate the dump truck dropped off the edge of the south side of the highway, overcorrected, came back onto the road, and struck the car head-on.
The car’s driver was flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital with serious injuries. The dump truck driver was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.
The names of the drivers have not been released. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
