INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – This is American Heart Month and Friday is the 24th annual National Wear Red Day, which raises awareness about heart disease on the first Friday in February, American Heart Month.
The American Heart Association in Indianapolis says, “By wearing red, we raise awareness that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, responsible for one in three deaths. We also raise awareness that by making healthy lifestyle choices, most cardiac events could be prevented.”
Millions of people in the USA, including celebrities and media personalities, will wear red to celebrate National Wear Red Day.
In addition to wearing red, here are some ways you can participate in Wear Red Day :
- Take two minutes to learn Hands-Only CPR at www.heart.org/handsonlycpr
- Share the message on social media with #WearRedDay, tagging @AHAIndiana
- Donate to life-saving research and education efforts at www.heart.org/WearRedDay
