COLUMBUS. Ind. -The Columbus community invites sports fans and sneaker lovers to “Chuck Taylor Day,” the first annual celebration of Columbus native and basketball legend Chuck Taylor on Saturday, June 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. The party is scheduled for various venues in and around the Bartholomew County Historical Society Museum.
The event honors Chuck Taylor, the Bartholomew County basketball star and namesake of the Converse All-Star shoe. He played basketball locally at Columbus High School from 1915-1919, before competing professionally.
