NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) arrested a semi-truck driver from California for unlawfully entering the active construction zone on State Road 7 on Monday, June 23.
Deputies were dispatched to a reported traffic hazard within an active construction zone on Highway 7 North and observed a 53-foot semi-truck and trailer had entered the closed construction area. The operator had bypassed nine posted warning signs, including notices for road closure, detour directions, rumble strips, and multiple barricades.
Because the restricted zone was occupied by multiple dump trucks, heavy machinery, and numerous construction workers, the semi posed a significant safety risk.
The driver, identified only as Ankush, 22, of California, was taken into custody by JCSO and charged with Reckless Driving (A-Misdemeanor).
