HOPE, Ind. – Pastor Steve Barrett and his wife Lodema donated an Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope to the Hope Elementary School last week.
The Orion SkyQuest Telescope has 8″ diameter reflector optics that will let students view the moon and planets in close-up detail, and has enough light grasp to pull in pleasing views of faint nebulas, galaxies, and star clusters.
Barrett is the Congregational Care Pastor with Seymour’s The Point church. He is also the Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplain at the local hospital, a certified grief counselor, and an avid reader.
Hope Elementary took to social media to thank the Barrett family for their generous gift to the school’s science program, stating they were “over the moon with gratitude” and that because of the donation, their “students can now explore the cosmos up close.”
