SEYMOUR, Ind. — The Seymour Police Department (SPD) arrested a local felon for allegedly brandishing a firearm during an argument in a home with children present on Wednesday, October 8.
Investigators with SPD received information that an individual who had been convicted of a serious violent felony owned a firearm and had displayed it during a recent argument with children present in the home.
During the investigation, a gun was reportedly located that should not have been at the residence on the west side of Seymour. Detectives arrested 23-year-old Shannon Lee Barger for being a Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm (level 4 felony).
Barger was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The suspect had a previous conviction for criminal confinement, a level 3 felony, from an arrest in 2020.
