COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) held its first employee recognition ceremony on Wednesday, November 5.
This event was initiated as a way to recognize all employees of the Sheriff’s Office and to highlight a few specific employees whose service exceeded expectations. Sheriff Chris Lane recognized a large group of employees based on their tenure at BCSO. This included 23 employees with at least five years of service, 14 with at least 10 years, nine with at least 15 years, and 16 with at least 20 years.
The last group included several employees who have been with BCSO for over three decades. This included Major John Martoccia (31 years), Captain TA Smith (43 years), Correctional Officer Jeff Tindell (38 years), Administrative Assistant Jeanette Down (41 years), and Major Dana Vogt (34 years).
Sheriff Lane also recognized three specific employees. Deputy JD Myers was presented with an exceptional service award for his work in the uniform division. This included several instances of traffic stops resulting in the seizure of a notable amount of narcotics throughout the year. Detective Jarod Aspenson and Deputy Dylan Prather were also honored with an award for exceptional service. They were recognized for their efforts in improving the Sheriff’s Office hiring process and for creating the recognition ceremony itself.
The Sheriff said, “I think of the Sheriff’s Office as a family. It was my honor as sheriff to recognize the men and women who make up the Sheriff’s Office today as they were surrounded by their family, friends, and co-workers. I am proud of every single one of my employees and thank them for their service to Bartholomew County.”
