COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Coatsville, Indiana, teenager is in custody after leading law enforcement on a pursuit with a stolen vehicle on Tuesday.
Just after 4 p.m., the Columbus Police Department (CPD) was alerted to a stolen vehicle by a Flock Safety camera. Officers found the car, a Kia Soul that had been reported stolen in Greencastle the day before.
Officers attempted to stop the car near Williamsburg Way and Taylor Road, but the driver sped up and tried to get away. Police chased the vehicle onto 25th Street and then north on Marr Road.
The driver lost control of the car and went into the field near Marr Road and Sawin Drive, where it became stuck. CPD then set up a perimeter and was able to take the driver and two passengers into custody safely.
The driver was identified as Dylan Peach, 18. He was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail and arrested for the preliminary charges of:
- Theft of a motor vehicle (level 6 felony)
- Resisting law enforcement in a vehicle (level 6 felony)
- Operating a vehicle without obtaining a license (C misdemeanor)
The two passengers were juveniles and were released to their parents.
