COLUMBUS, Ind.–During a traffic stop Saturday night, Columbus Police Department officers arrested a Bartholomew County man for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A juvenile was in the car with him.
Public information officer Lt. Matt Harris says a vehicle was weaving in-and-out of traffic near National Road and Westenedge Drive. The driver was stopped a short time later and identified as Matthew Louden, 36, of Columbus. Officers say the suspect smelled of alcohol as he spoke with them. It was also determined that Louden’s passenger in the vehicle was his 12-year-old child.
The driver allegedly failed field sobriety tests at the scene and later reportedly provided a breath sample of .169 percent. Louden was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .15 percent or greater, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment.
