SEYMOUR, Ind. — Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fiery crash on Interstate 65 in Jackson County.
The SUV crashed around 6:30 a.m. Sunday in southbound lanes at mile marker 42.
First responders say the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. A passerby had already pulled two men from the vehicle.
The driver, Norton Baughman, 19, of Seymour, said the passenger, Joshua Lane, 22, also of Seymour, grabbed the wheel and pulled the vehicle off the road.
The SUV left the east side of the road and struck a tree before bursting into flames, police said.
Both occupants were flown to the hospital.
Investigators say alcohol is likely a contributing factor in the crash.
