FRANKLIN, Ind.–Last month, 35 Franklin Police Department officers and two Franklin Fire Department firefighters participated in a “No-Shave-November” fundraiser benefiting Johnson County Senior Services (JCSS).
Officer Brittany Floyd organized the event and was able to obtain partnerships with several local businesses, including Kroger Marketplace, Graham’s Wrecker Service, Urban Air, First Response Plumbing, T-Shirt Express, Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep, The Hearth at Stones Crossing, and Fraternal Order of Police #154.
A contest was also held to see “Who Wore it Best” which generated extra donations. The public was asked to pick its favorite beard and cast votes by donating a dollar per vote. Officer Floyd, collected the most votes by raising $166 and received a $100 prize donated by Mayor Steve Barnett. She decided to donate the $100 prize to the “true” beard-wearing winner, police officer Ben Krout, who will now be permitted to continue to wear his beard through December 31.
The total amount raised for “No-Shave November” for JCSS was $3,839.00.
