COLUMBUS, Ind. — An affiliate of Columbus Regional Health, Southeastern Indiana Medical Holdings, has purchased the building located on 333 Second St., which has housed The Republic newspaper for over 40 years.
Columbus Regional Health has been looking for more space in Columbus and the architecturally significant landmark offered an ideal structure to continue expanding their health system.
Southeastern Indiana Medical Holdings paid $2,770,000 for the property on Thursday from Rayanna Corp., a local company established by the Brown-Marshall family of Columbus that owned the newspaper.
The sale of the building was triggered by AIM Media Indiana moving their printing operations of The Republic and its publications from Columbus to Indianapolis. The newspaper was purchased from Home News Enterprises in November 2015 and the building was not purchased at the time the company was sold.
