FRANKLIN, Ind. —The Franklin Community Schools administration was notified of an email threat, around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Officials immediately contacted the police department and placed the school on lockdown. Parents were notified of the lockdown by 7:40 a.m., and attendance was declared optional.
Unconfirmed reports indicate police removed a student from a bus for questioning.
FCHS is open and currently on a code yellow lockdown. As a precaution, there will be an increased police presence throughout the building. “I want to commend the police department, FCHS staff and students for following our safety protocol,” Superintendent Dr. David Clendening said. “As always, we want to encourage staff and students, if you see something, say something.”
Classes and finals will continue as scheduled. If a parent or guardian chooses to keep his/her student home, finals can be made up on January 6, beginning at 8 a.m.
