BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – The Jackson County Sheriffs Department received a report of motorcycles racing up and down the streets in the Pebblebrook Subdivision, south of Seymour, on Saturday. Upon arriving in the area, deputies say they observed two motorcycles traveling north on U.S. 31 at a high rate of speed.
One motorcycle stopped, while the others sped away. Deputy Brad Barker activated his emergency lights and sirens and pursued the vehicle north on U.S. 31. As the motorcycle approached U.S. 50, the deputy said the motorcyclist turned east onto U.S. 50 and accelerated quickly. The motorcycle allegedly reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.
The bike eventually came to a stop in the 12000 block of U.S. 50. The driver was identified as Erick Omar Rodriguez-Vazquez, 28, of Columbus. The passenger was identified as Kathleen Michelle Leon Guzman, 42, of Seymour.
Rodriguez-Vasquez was arrested and charged with resisting law enforcement, operating while never receiving a license, and reckless driving. He also received citations for expired licenses plates, speeding, disregarding a traffic control device, and failure to use a turn signal. Guzman was released.
