NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) on Sunday morning was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident with injuries involving a car and a motorcycle. The crash occured at South State and West College Streets.
Michael Harden, of Hope, was driving his motorcycle and was ejected from his bike when the driver of the passenger car, Aaron Malan, of North Vernon, allegedly turned in front of Harden and struck him.
When officers arrived and began their investigation, they say witnesses reported to them that the driver of the car had consumed a handful of an unknown substance beforehand. Several yellow pills were also supposedly found scattered in the area near the vehicle. The pills were later identified as Clonazepam.
NVPD also says it located marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the suspect and he admitted to the use of marijuana and narcotics prior to the accident.
Malan was taken into custody, transported to the Jennings County Jail, and booked on multiple charges including an OWI.
