COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was recently recognized for support of its National Guard and Military Reserve employees. During the awards banquet, CPD received the “Above and Beyond Award” which recognizes employers at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements by providing National Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits such as differential or full pay to offset lost wages.
The Columbus Police Department currently has 11 officers serving in the Armed Forces in an Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserve capacity. In total, 33% of CPD officers have either served or are currently serving in our Nation’s Armed Forces.
Police Chief Jonathan Rohde stated, “We are very proud of our police officers that continue to serve in our military.” He continued, “We are proud to work with these officers to ensure that they are able to attend the training and military exercises they need to fulfill their obligations and help protect our country and community.”
