COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to a suspicious person report in Taylorsville on Wednesday regarding a man causing a disturbance. He was wearing only a shirt and underwear.
When BCSO arrived, they found the suspect asleep in the lobby of a hotel. He was identified as Chad Corwin, 46, of California. Corwin allegedly tried to walk away from authorities several times before he was taken into custody.
Officers say he was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and booked on preliminary charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting law enforcement. He has since been released.
It was later discovered that Corwin, who had told deputies that he was “going to his room,” was actually staying in a hotel located on the opposite side of the highway.
