RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) and Ripley County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two-vehicle crash near Holton, on Wednesday, which proved to be fatal to a Bartholomew County woman.
The initial investigation indicated that a car being driven by Marion Harding, 21, of Holton, was traveling on Michigan Road at US 50, and allegedly failed to yield to a car being driven by Craig Schneckenberger 62, of Columbus. Harding’s car drove into the path of Schneckenberger, hitting the passenger side, and pushing both vehicles off the road before coming to a rest.
The front-seat passenger in the car that was struck, Sally Schneckenberger, 61, of Columbus, was taken to King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison where she passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. Harding and a passenger in his car were both transported by air ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment of injuries. Schneckenberger was airlifted to Indiana University Methodist Hospital to receive medical care for serious injuries.
ISP says toxicology results on both drivers are pending at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
