COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) held yet another successful Cheer Fund event this holiday season. According to Ben Noblitt with CFD, they were able to send approximately 1,056 boxes out to children within the community this season. However, with some waitlisted people, he notes that the number likely rose from the original total.
Noblitt mentioned that the volunteer turnout this year was huge. He estimated 200, or possibly more, helped organize and deliver boxes on Delivery Day last Saturday.
Compared to the previous year, he said the weather was a big factor and helped with volunteer turnout. The expectations for next year continue to rise after another successful season of giving.
