CHARLOTTE — A fractured vertebra will sideline Tony Stewart for the start of his final NASCAR Sprint Cup season.
The Columbus native suffered the injury while riding a dune buggy in southern California Sunday.
Stewart-Haas Racing did not give a timetable for his return to the track but confirmed the 44-year-old will miss the Daytona 500.
Stewart is expected to make a full recovery and race during what he’s announced as his final season.
