COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says lane closures are scheduled to begin next week on the Third Street bridge (westbound State Road 46) over the Flatrock River in Columbus. Milestone Contractors will apply a polymeric deck overlay, at State Roads 11 and 46, as part of the $30 million interchange project that began late last year.
The far right lane of the three-lane bridge will close for approximately two weeks starting Monday, May 4. Crews will then move to the middle and far left lanes, both of which are scheduled to close for one week each. Officials at INDOT say the deck overlay portion of the project is expected to be complete by early June, weather permitting.
Construction continues at the interchange through the summer and fall, with various traffic impacts on S.R. 11 and S.R. 46. All work is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
