EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) says the man who died in the two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening, on Interstate 65 near Edinburgh, has been identified as Mark Raub, 72, of Nashville, Indiana.
The initial investigation indicates that a third vehicle was apparently also involved in the incident. The operator of a white Chevrolet Cobalt, with either an Illinois or Kentucky license plate, was supposedly speeding, driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic, braking suddenly, and giving hand gestures to other drivers.
The driver of the Cobalt allegedly pulled in front of a pick-up truck, driven by Raub, and suddenly braked. The pick-up swerved and was struck by a semi. The impact of the crash caused the pick-up to hit a guardrail and overturn. The driver of the Cobalt did not stop.
Law enforcement is still looking for anyone who may have dash camera footage of the crash or of a white Chevrolet Cobalt driving erratically in the area of southbound I-65, between Greenwood and Columbus, during the time period of 8 to 8:45 p.m on Tuesday. You are asked to check your cameras, and if you have captured the white Chevrolet Cobalt, call ISP at 317-899-8577.
