NASHVILLE, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation is prepared to begin a $4.5 million road and bridge project encompassing 3.6 miles through the Yellowwood State Forest. Clearing operations will begin soon. The project is expected to relieve flooding and erosion conditions.
Columbus-based Milestone Contractors will complete the South Access Project from the intersection of State Road 46 and Yellowwood Road to the north boat dock.
The project includes a 120-day closure to remove Salt Creek structures and replace them with a new three-span, 300-foot-long bridge. Two other 45-day closures are planned to install box culverts on Yellowwood Road and Yellowwood Lake Road. The intermediate completion date for the project is mid-November.
Phase II of the project from Yellowwood Lake Road to Lanam Road is expected to be awarded in the summer of 2017.
