COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police are investigating a possible road rage incident that resulted in two vehicles crashing and one overturning on Thursday morning.
Law enforcement says, around 9:30 a.m., a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Columbus East High School student honked at another car driven by Jerry Wynn, 52, of North Vernon, after Wynn passed her in a turn lane at U.S. 31 and State Road 7. The exchange almost caused an accident. As the student continued into Columbus, she told police Wynn began braking very hard, almost causing her to run into the rear of his vehicle. As they neared State Street, the young female said that Wynn intentionally struck her car causing his vehicle to roll over.
Wynn told police he had hit his brakes to keep the teen from following so closely. Wynn also told police he thought there was something under his brake pedal that caused the crash. After interviewing witnesses, Wynn was charged with aggressive driving and reckless driving. The case will be forwarded to the Bartholomew County prosecutor.
