COLUMBUS, Ind. – Although the Winter Storm Warning has expired for Bartholomew County, weather conditions remain ominous. When the snow ends on Friday morning, the county will have received 4 to 7 inches.
The precipitation, combined with strong winds, caused the snow to blow and drift, making it difficult for maintenance crews to keep up. Most county roads are still extremely slick and hazardous. Numerous accidents have been reported over the last 24 hours.
The Travel Warning for Bartholomew and surrounding counties continues and will most likely be active through the morning. Main streets in Columbus are plowed and treated but are still slick. Crews are working to get neighborhoods and side streets cleared.
Bartholomew Consolidated, Edinburgh, Franklin, Seymour, and Jennings County schools are all closed on Friday with e-Learning scheduled. Flat Rock-Hawcreek and Brown County schools are also closed. City of Columbus and Bartholomew County government buildings will not be open on Friday.
