EDINBURGH, Ind. – Edinburgh Fire and Rescue, with the assistance of other local fire agencies from Franklin, Amity, Nineveh, Princes Lakes, and German Township, was called on Saturday afternoon to a working residence blaze with reports of possible entrapment. The Edinburgh Police Department also responded to the fire.
Firefighters arrived at the 400 block of East Thompson St., at around 3 p.m. to find a multi-family dwelling with heavy smoke and fire showing from a second-story apartment.
The team effort not only quickly extinguished the fire, thus preventing the spread to other apartments, but a family cat that was trapped inside was also rescued. Seals Ambulance medics gave oxygen to the kitty to save its life. The feline was then taken to a vet.
Officials say there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
