HOPE, Ind. – A residential fire in the 100 block of Schaeffer Drive in Hope was fatal to a Bartholomew County man on Tuesday morning. First responders were called to the home just before 10:30 a.m.
Officials say that one man and his five-month-old child escaped, but that another man was trapped inside. The victim was identified as Thomas Clark, 61, of Hope. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal and other local agencies are investigating to determine the cause of the blaze.
