MORGANTOWN, Ind. – Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess announced Tuesday that he plans to present the prosecutor’s office with a probable cause affidavit for Nicolas R. Saunders, 19, to be charged with attempted murder. The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final decision on formal charges.
The suspect was arrested Monday in regards to a shooting last week. Search warrants were executed at two locations in Morgan and Jennings Counties. The victim, Jerry Jones, 38, of Morgantown, was last listed in critical condition.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s office says Saunders was found at a home off of County Road 800N, in Elizabethtown. He was taken into custody on the initial charges of aggravated battery, resisting law enforcement, and criminal mischief.
In relation to the case, police arrested Miranda D. Lawson, 19, for false informing.
